Khoma Lhakhang

Build On: 12th century Category: Temple Address Lhuentse

One of the main features of the Khoma Village is the two-storey Khoma Lhakhang. It was built in the 12th century by Gelong Kado and Lam Zhangpa. The lower storey is attributed to Lam Zhangpa while the upper house is believed to have been built by Gelong Kado from Dromazhong under Maenbi Gewog. Lam Zhangpa was from Zhamling, Tibet. He was a renowned scholar of Drukpa Kagyud Buddhism. A distinct aspect of Khoma Lhakhang is the flooring which is done by pebbles on both floors without using wooden planks. The Lhakhang, which is a few minutes’ walk from the road head, houses eleven-face statue of Chenrezig and image of local deity Yanag Tinkar.
