Pelden Lhamo Lhakhang

Category: Temple Address Gasa

The lhakhang was built after restoring an old derelict village house, in accordance with His Majesty’s Command during the last royal visit to Lunana in 2016.
As one of the most important protective deities of Bhutan, Palden Lhamo is revered across the country as the guardian of its inhabitants.
The locals also believe that the temple, at 4,100 metres above sea level, stands on holy ground, and its blessings would spread across the entire country and bring benefit to all those who live within and beyond.

Located at an altitude of over 4,100 meters, locals believe, blessings from the lhakhang will benefit and spread far and beyond the country.
“We have Rabstang, Thothromi, and Lugi lake above our village. This new lhakhang will serve as an offering to those lakes,” Lunana Gup Kaka said.
His Majesty The King graced the consecration ceremony of a new Palden Lhamoi Lhakhang in Toenchoe Village under Lunana Gewog, Gasa.
The consecration prayers were presided over by the Dorji Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang.
