Meditation cave of Drubthob Drakpa Gyatsho
One can reach Chochongtse Gonpa either going up from Sangchokor monastery and Rinpung Gonpa; or come down from Bumdra. It takes more than an hour to walk there from Bumdra. Since the hilltop of Chochongtse is similar to the hill of Dagpo in Tibet, which was a precious religious realm of Dagpo Lhajey (Gampopa) ,Ponlop Drakpa Gyatsho founded Chochongtse in the seventh century as a religious establishment of the Dagpo Kagyu. The temple is two-storey. At Chojephu, behind Chochongtse , there is a meditation cave and footprint of Ponlop Drakpa Gyatsho. Above the left side of the temple there are two separate blessed water source.
Drubthob Drakpa Gyatsho footprint
At flat rock infront of the temple is said to be the place where Ponlop Drakpa Gyatsho used to practice Direct crossing (thod rgal). Lopen Jampel ,in his research paper (1972) ,writes that, down a little way from the left side of the temple can be seen the signs of various profound treasure hidden by Guru Rinpoche. This include the eye and the Yoni, the skull and so on. There are also many treasure signs on all the crags above and below. People say that ,near the old path going to Ribur Gonpa below ,there is a footprint of Ponlop Drakpa Gyatsho on a rock by the side of a small stream.
