In the seventeenth century ( Tenth Rabjung ), the Omniscient ( Sarvajna) Lama Chodrak of Tsendong saw the shape of the place exactly like mother Tara ( Phama Jetsun Dolma) and he mediated at the place between her legs. He liked the place very much and saying " the place is very nice " which in the common language is putsa du and in the Dharma language ( Choke) is leg mo che , he built the temple there. According to Tsip Darje ,the caretaker of the temple, Lama Chodrak is said to have meditated there for a long time and also his root Guru Ngawang Pekar , the Dharma Master of Sela, is said to have stayed at the temple when he came there as the Lama of Taktshang. Although the name of the Gonpa, according to its etymologyical origin is Legmoche , later it changed slightly and came to be known widely as Lemochi.

Lemochi Temple is located in the village of Tsento gewog at 2952 metres above sea level. One can reach the temple around 45 minutes drive from Drukgyel Dzong taking the diversion from the way to Drakey Pangtsho ( Bjana Goempa) after around ten minutes plying on the unpaved road.
