Dochula Mountain Pass is situated between Thimphu and Punakha and En Route to Punakha, and stands at an altitude of 3,150 meters. One a Clear day, from this Pass you will see the beautiful Himalayan Mountain Range with the Tibetan Plateau and the highest mountain peak of Bhutan the “Gangkhar Phuensum”.
A few decades ago, the Dochula Pass was a very misty and densely forested mountain pass. Then, Her Royal Highness the Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck simultaneously built the 108 beautiful stupas, named them “Druk Wangyal Chortens”, and built the magnificent Temple “Druk Wangyal Lhakhang “.
