This is the Woop lhakhang of Drepung gewog under Mongar dzongkhag. Woop lhakhang is actually known as Yoed (light) lhakhang, the lhakhang was named yoe lhakhang because it is said that a long time back a Nun(anyim) and the man from Pemagatshel saw light at the present location of the Temple.

They came all the way from Pemagatshel to this place to investigate the light they saw. When they reached the place it was found out that the light was a formation from the gathering of evils the demons on that top. It is said that the nun and the man settled at this place where and the demons who gather there was said to have subdued by a neljorpa (yogi) of Lharijab who had visited the place.

There after the surrounding place is known as འདྲེ་སྤུངས། (gathering of demons) while this Temple is known as Yoed Lhakhang (the temple of light) but from now it is more known as Woop lhakhang probably because of pronunciation difficulty in proununcing Yoed in Dzongkha by the locals.
